A Brief Resume of Dr R JAGAN MOHAN, Dean Students Welfare, NIFTEM-T, Thanjavur Dr.R. Jagan Mohan, has 36 years of Research, Teaching and Administrative experience in food processing with food science background. He has completed his doctoral degree in Food science from TNAU during 1999. Currently working as Professor and Dean Student Welfare at NIFTEM-T. His journey is remarkable from Technical Assistant, PPRC to Dean Student Welfare NIFTEM-T. His contribution towards science includes more than 85 research papers in reputed journals, with 5 plus Book chapters and 10+ popular articles. He also guided 2 Post doctoral student, 8 Doctorial students and 15 + MTech students during his career.

His research and teaching area of interest includes food science, food biochemistry, food product development – extruded product, low glycaemic foods, cereal and pulse processing and sensory science. He was active member in setting up of NABL accredited Food Testing Laboratory at IICPT, Thanjavur, Food Process Incubation Centre at IICPT Regional Centre, Guwahati, Sensory Evaluation Laboratory at NIFTEM-T, Food testing laboratory at Liaisons office Guwahati, Women Bio-tech Park conducted by DBT and Knowledge centre for the Northeast. His expertise made him to be Board of Studies member and Subject matter specialist in various reputed universities in India. He serves as professional member in American Association of Cereal Chemists, American Society for Agricultural and Biological engineering, American Dietetic Association – International, Indian Dietetics Association, Life member of Nutrition Society of India, Member of Association of Food scientists and Technologists of India, Mysore and Life member of Indian society for Technical Education. He was Vice President of Association of Food Scientist and Technologist of India (AFSTI)-2020-2021and 2022-23. He has also been selected as President of Association of Food Scientist and Technologist of India (AFSTI)-2027.

He has been one of the members in “Team research award given by Indian Council of Agricultural Research award for the year 2002 and Best scientist award 2019, by the institute. he has organized many national seminars and workshops at various places in India. He has visited the USA for a short-term research program in extrusion cooking and worked at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, US. He initiated the MOU with Kansas State university. Manhatten, US, and was a team member visiting Asian Institute of Technology and Kaserstart University, Bangkok, Thailand for the MOU. He is a member in FSSAI Scientific Panel for cereals, pulse and legumes including bakery Products and BIS FAD 28 Sectional Committee-Ready to eat food Product. He also serves as member in board of governance at NIFTEM-T and served various Institution as senate member.
